Course Description

This is a two-hour self-paced distance based course designed to assist health care providers in identifying and managing the medical legal risks associated with bloodborne pathogens.

Evaluation

There will be a minimum of ten questions on an online examination at the end of the course materials to evaluate learner knowledge.

Objectives

  • Introduce healthcare providers to universal precautions.
  • Identify which body fluids universal precautions apply to.
  • Understand what techniques may be applied to reduce the risk of exposure to pathogens related to bloodborne pathogens.
  • Identify the standard of care regarding bloodborne pathogens in the healthcare workplace.

Chiropractic Care of Peripheral Neuropathies (12 CE Hours, $199)

Course Description

This twelve-hour distance based course will provide Doctors of Chiropractic with current information concerning the evaluation and management of several different types of peripheral neuropathies using chiropractic care. The course is designed for the general practicing Doctor of Chiropractic.  The learner’s participation (time) is actively tracked and logged.  The doctors are engaged in this distance-based class by the use of interactive teaching tools including case study interpretation.

Evaluation

The learner’s time spent studying course materials is tracked electronically.  A formal multiple-choice examination is administered at the termination of the course materials.  There will be at least three questions for every hour of the class.  The learner must score 75% to receive credit for the course.  Learners not achieving the pass rate will be directed to additional study by the instructor and allowed to re-take the examination.

Objectives

In this course the learner will:

  1. Review the pathophysiology of peripheral nerve pathologies.
  2. Understand how peripheral nerves heal.
  3. Identify systemic peripheral neuropathies and learn what we can do to help these patients.
  4. Analyze commonly encountered upper and lower extremity peripheral neuropathies.
  5. Review the art of history taking as it specifically relates to peripheral neuropathies.
  6. Know the standard of care concerning the physical examination of the patient with a peripheral neuropathy.
  7. Develop further appreciation of systemic the conditions encountered in the general population that involve peripheral neuropathies.
  8. Analyze the history and physical examination to determine a chiropractic care plan.
  9. Evaluate three case studies of individuals with peripheral neuropathies and perform synthesis of the case studies to determine clearance to adjust.
  10. Review and learn about commonly encountered upper and lower extremity peripheral neuropathies.

Course Description

This course was designed for doctors of chiropractic as primary care providers who may be exposed to a variety of skin conditions in the office setting during the course of chiropractic care. Doctors will focus on how to recognize common skin conditions that they may encounter in practice and the associated symptoms and management for each condition. Skin conditions should be co-cared by a dermatologist.

No textbooks required. Computer and Internet service required for completion of this course. Specifically you will need Adobe Flash player and the internet browser Microsoft Edge/Internet Explorer (IE) to successfully view the videos in this course. 

Evaluation

The learner’s time spent studying course materials is tracked electronically.  A learning outcome examination is administered at the termination of the course materials.  There will be at least three questions for every hour of the class.  True/False, multiple choice, short answer and essay questions may be used.  A final score of 80% or greater is required for completion of the course. Learners not achieving the pass rate will be directed to additional study by the instructor and allowed to re-take the examination.

To earn the full 6 hours of credit available for this course learners must complete the following:

  1. Log a minimum of 360 minutes in this course by participating in each unit.
  2. Answer ALL threaded discussion questions.
  3. Take ALL quizzes/exams and score at least 75% on them.

Objectives

In this course the learner will:

  1. Review how to recognize common skin conditions that may be encountered in practice.
